Announcing PC Designer
We're excited to announce the debut of our spiffy new form design tool, PC Designer.
This graphic design tool has been designed by Integrated Custom Software specifically for FormSprint, so it is not a PC draw package fitted to the System i, rather, it is a System i package with a PC graphical interface.
Because it is System i-based and not PC-based, all the databases are stored on the System i, accessible to authorized users, protected by System i security and FormSprint security, and automatically backed up by System i backup software. No downloading or uploading is required. And your forms will never get carried out of the office on someone's laptop and stolen from the trunk of their car.
So now you have instant form design - well - near instant. You select the spool file on the System i that the form is for. It shows up on the PC screen. Use the mouse to draw in whatever lines and boxes you wish. Type in any fixed text, all of which automatically formats and centers - or whatever you like - black on white, white on black, flush left, flush right, justified. You see it all right as you do it.
Then if you like you can cut and paste the spool file, so any part of the input spool file can be put anywhere on the page, in any format you like. And all this shows on the screen right while you are working it. Don't waste time stopping to print test pages.
Graphics are a big wow! You can use any of the graphics already on your System i for FormSprint. But you can also use any other graphics that might be floating around on your PC or the web. JPEG and BMP formats can be loaded with a mouse click. You have the option for resizing if you wish, and also for any editing of the graphic to make it look perfect.
When you like what you see on the PC, click the save button. It is ready to run on the System i. Just submit the spool file to a FormSprint virtual queue or use the link program and your spool file will be processed with the new form definition. Job done!
For entertainment, you might take a look at the form definition on the System i FormSprint editor. All the table-based design screens are filled in just as if you had designed it originally on the System i. In fact, you can make changes on the System i and still go back to the PC, and the changes you made on the System i will appear.
What is also remarkable is that forms you designed years ago when it was called an AS/400 can be opened on the PC Designer and modified. The PC Designer supports macros and most other features of the System i editor.
We invite you to see a demonstration of PC Designer, and we have a special promotion for existing FormSprint customers. Take a look. You'll get excited too.
Enjoy!
